What's cooking at Google? Indian Languages!

Google Indic Transliteration
Bangalore, Apr 23: Based on a new initiative Indic Transliteration on Knol. Indic that will help users publish in five indian languages, Google is launching the Indian Cooking Knol-edge Contest to find the best Indian recipe published in an Indian language.

The Indic Transliteration lets one type Indian languages with an English keyboard. When the user types in English the tool converts the input into a chosen Indian language after space bar or enter is hit. The five languages are Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.

The contest will run on Knol, which is a new Google product that enables users to share their expert knowledge in an organized manner. Knol was primarily introduced to provide a platform for a common man to publish and with Indic Tranliteration content from Indian languages too will play a role on the web.

Chef Sanjeev Kapoor will be judging the recipes recieved in the contest. The contest is open for Indian receipes written in any of the five languages.

NBC sees Web video JV launch in September
