New Delhi, Apr 19: Deepak Bhardwaj, the wealthiest candidate in the Lok Sabha polls said that parties should give more tickets to rich candidates as the 'rich can serve the poor better.' The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) candidate who is contesting election from West Delhi, has declared assests worth Rs 600 crores.
"It is good that political parties nominate rich candidates in elections. If you find a rich person as your candidate, he or she can help the poor better and look after development work," he said, well aware that a contestant from Gujarat, Khimjibhai Patel, has declared assets worth over Rs 500 crores.
"How can a poor candidate serve the poor? It only stands to reason and therefore richer candidates should be given more chance to contest elections," added the 58-year-old Bhardwaj.
The BSP candidate compares party supremo Mayawati to an 'army commander' and said want to revolutionise India's educational system if voted to power.
