Mumbai, Apr 15: Ajmal Kasav's, trial will be held on Wednesday, Apr 15 in person. He will be appearing in front of a Special Court for the first time in the Mumbai Arthur road jail.
The trial will take place in a specially reinforced court room with heightened security measures taken in and around the court. There is unprecedented security at Mumbai's Arthur Road Jail to ensure the safety of the suspect. And the trial was scheduled to begin at 11 AM.
The 21 year old terror suspect has been charged with number of charges which includes 'waging war' on India, murder, attempted murder and kidnapping. If convicted he will face a death penalty.
Kasav was the lone terrorist caught alive in the Mumbai terror strikes and is reportedly on the hit lists of Lashkar-e-Toiba and D Company.
Commenting on this, Naseem Khan, Minister of State for Home, Maharashtra said, "The world has to know that inspite of all this we can ensure a fair trial."The police will check the media personnel covering the trial for any criminal records. Along with other security measures such as taking finger prints, special passes have been issued to those who have been screened and approved.
The special bomb proof court has been once used earlier in the trial of the 1993 Mumbai blasts case.
