Jayalalithaa denies ambition to become Prime Minister

Chennai, Apr 15 (ANI): All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) chief J. Jayalalithaa ruled out her being in the race to become the Prime Minister.

"I don't have any personal ambition. All I want is that our country should prosper and take its rightful place as a global super power in the community of nations, internationally," said J Jayalalithaa on Tuesday.

Further, she also rubbished the rumours of AIADMK having post-poll alliance with any other party.

"The AIADMK is in alliance with the Left parties, the Pattali Makkal Katchi and the Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam. So, there is no question of conducting any talks with any other party on a probable post-poll alliance," added Jayalalithaa.

A certain section of media reported that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is trying a post-poll alliance with Jayalalithaa and her AIADMK.

From Tamil Nadu, 39 MPs are elected to the Lok Sabha.

Presently, Jayalalithaa is seen as a part of the Third Front mooted by theommunist-led Left Front and several regional parties like the Telugu Desamarty and the Janata Dal (Secular) among others. (ANI)

Congress slams Jaya's volte face on Prez polls

Puducherry, July 19: Coming down heavily on the last minute volte face by AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa in the Presidential election, the Congress today said the move had exposed her true colours. Addressing a press conference here, AICC Secretary G Sudhakar Reddy said the people of the Union Territory would teach a befitting lesson to Ms Jayalalithaa, who had directed her party MPs and Legislators to vote for NDA-backed Independent Bhairon Singh.....
