Varun Gandhi is a threat to nation: Mayawati govt

Varun Gandhi
Lucknow, Apr 12: Uttar Pradesh government, under Mayawati defended the arrest of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)'s Pilibhit candidate Varun Gandhi for the coming Lok Sabha polls, under National Security Act (NSA). Maya's tough stand against Varun and BJP is gaining appreciation among the Muslim community, at the same time there are signs of rising sympathy for the saffron party in Pilibhit and other constituencies of eartern UP.

Varun had earlier challenged his detention under NSA in SC. However the District Magistrate Ajay Chauhan, said in his affidavit, that Varun should have presented his case before the Advisory Board, which scrutinises the legality of preventive detentions under NSA, rather than the SC.
