'Swat deal after peace is restored in valley'

Islamabad, Apr 10: Pakistan Information and Broadcasting Minister, Qamaruz Zaman Kaira has made it clear that the President Asif Ali Zardari will sign the Swat peace deal only after peace and harmony returns to the valley.

"The peace pact has been signed between the NWFP government and TNSM. Therefore, President Zardari will sign the Swat peace accord after prevalence of complete peace and serenity in Swat region," The Nation quoted Kaira, as saying.

Kaira admitted that the presence Afghani extremists in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) could not be ruled out.

"The Afghan government has no control on large area of its territory," he added.

On the Kashmiri issue, Kaira said that it was a prolonged, issue they really needed to find solution in order to establish Indo-Pak relationship. Commenting on the concern in Islamabad about India's involvement in the Afghan issue, he said that Pakistan wants all the important nations of the region to come together on the issue and find a way out.

"Pakistan has its own stance over the issues. It also wants the leading regional countries including China, India and Iran to wage collaborated efforts to resolve the situation in Afghanistan," he added.

Act fast, if not India may strike: McCain to Pak

Washington, Dec 7: US Senator and Former Presidential candidate John McCain said on Saturday, Dec 6, he believes that if Pakistan did not take necessary action against the individuals and groups linked to 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, India will conduct air strikes on select targets in Pakistan. He added that there is enough evidence of the involvement of former ISI (Inter-Services Intelligence) officers in the planning and execution of the Mumbai strikes.
