Uttarakhand villagers complain about lack of basic amenities

Dehradun, Apr 10 (ANI): Residents of Chamasari village, 26 kilometers from Dehradun, lamented that the village lacks basic amenities and no political representative has visited them.

Chamasari village, which has a population of a few hundred, is devoid of basic facilities like roads, schools, a hospital and there is no electricity in the village for past 23 years.

Rajsingh, a resident complained that the leaders have no interest in developmental work and they visit only during the election.

"Political leaders only come here during the time of voting and after that they are not even seen here. Electrification had been done here in 1986 and then the transformer got burnt. Now, the electric poles are being put up and forest department is refusing them permission to put up poles. There is no one to listen to our woes," said Rajsingh.

Political leaders like Vishwas Darbar, spokesperson of state Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), denied these charges and said that if his party comes to power in the Centre, it will make sure that the developmental work will resume.

"When the Congress is ruling the Centre, so the developmental projects which were started by the NDA Government like road development which were started under village road developmental schemes were scrapped. Today, people are angry about this when the NDA Government comes in the Centre, all this developmental work will again start," said Darbar. By Ashish Goel (ANI)
