NATO oil tankers targeted by Taliban fighters

Peshawar, Apr 10: About six oil tankers that were on their way to the NATO troops in Afghanistan were allegedly destroyed by suspected Taliban fighters in Chamkani region on Friday, Apr 10.

Reportedly, unidentified militants blasted an oil tanker loaded with highly inflammable fuels. The blast triggered a massive blaze which engulfed six out of the thirty-five tankers parked there.

The fire was brought under control by the Pakistan Air Force fire tenders after local fire fighters failed to contain the flames. a security official informed that special chemicals were used to extinguish the flames.

There have been similar incidents in the recent past, where NATO trucks have been destroyed.

NATO reviews Afghan tactics to cut civilian deaths

Washington, May 19: NATO is looking at its tactics in Afghanistan to reduce civilian casualties, which have prompted protests from President Hamid Karzai, the alliance's top commander said today. US Army Gen John Craddock said NATO understood that civilian casualties cost the alliance credibility among local people whose support was vital to defeating Islamist insurgents from the Taliban movement. ''Every time that happens, someone walks away, an Afghan citizen, with a bad feeling.....
