PCB-ICL rebels' stalemate continues

Karachi, Apr.10 (ANI): The deadlock between the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the rebel ICL players continues, as the board has now said that it would only offer a central contract to them if they start playing in the domestic tournaments.

The PCB's Chief Operating Officer, Saleem Altaf, has made it clear that the board has no plans to include new players in its central contract.

"The central contracts are given to players on the basis of their performance for the Pakistan team and in domestic matches. We have already given the contracts to 27 of our leading cricketers and have no plans to extend the list in the near future," The News quoted Altaf, as saying.

Earlier, fast bowler Rana Naved-ul-Hasan had asked the board to provide the ICL players financial security in return of them terminating their contract with the rebel league.

"I want some financial protection and that can come in the form of a central contract with the board," Hassan said.

Hasan, along with all-rounder Abdul Razzaq and opening batsman Imran Nazir, was initially included in the list of thirty probables for the World Twenty20 Championship to be played in England in June. However, all the three players were later omitted from the list. (ANI)
