New Delhi, Apr 9: The much awaited booking for peoples' car Tata Nano began on Thursday, Apr 9. Tata Motors has joined hands with 18 banks and financial institutions to help customers with the booking process.

The booking amount ranges between Rs 2,850 and Rs 4,110. The bookings will be open till 25th of Apr. Nano's base model is priced at Rs 95,000. But it will take almost a year to hit the roads.

The application forms were sold through over 30,000 locations in about 1,000 cities across India through Tata Motors's passenger-car dealerships, State Bank of India (SBI) branches as also through those of its subsidiaries. The forms were also sold through Tata group companies such as Westside, Croma, World of Titan and Tata Indicom. By the end of June, Tata Motors will announce the allotment of 1 lakh units of the Nano through a random selection process.Tata Motors has also announced an attractive scheme for booking Nano. The special features of the scheme include no upper limit on the number of cars to be booked through TMF, once the customers have submitted the forms a booking amount would be made to Tata Motors on behalf of the customers, applicants who have been allotted the car do not loose any amount except cost of the booking form and initial payments.

The scheme would be offered to partnership firms, private and public limited companies, trusts and HUF.
