Sonia Gandhi receives LTTE threat; security hiked

New Delhi, Apr 9: Union Home Ministry has issued an alert to the states to provide high security to the Congress President Sonia Gandhi and her children Rahul and Priyanka after receiving a threat from the banned organisation LTTE (Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam).

Ministry of Home Affairs has issued an advisory to state DGPs, specially southern states, to be on extra vigil while Sonia Gandhi is campaigning for the Lok Sabha polls in the states. It can be remembered that Sonia's husband and former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated in a suicide attack by the LTTE in 1991, at Sriperumbudur in Tamil Nadu during an election campaign.

Earlier in an election campaign in Chennai MDMK leader Vaiko has warned the centre of 'bloodbath' if any harm is done to LTTE leader V Prabhakaran.

Otherthan this the Ministry has also issued an advisory to the Police chiefs to review the security of 11 Chief Ministers who are facing terrorists threat. The 10 CMs include Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Raman Singh (Chhattisgarh), Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee (West Bengal), Mayawati (Uttar Pradesh), Naveen Patnaik (Orissa), Ashok Chavan (Maharashtra), Narendra Singh Modi (Gujarat) and Omar Abdullah (Jammu and Kashmir), official sources said.Punjab CM Parkash Singh Badal, Manipur"s Okram Ibobi Singh and M Karnunanidhi, Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, are also in the list. There are reports of about 800 Taliban and Jehadis waiting across the border to sneak in to India and disrupt polls.

Following the terror threat the roadshows of the Gandhi family have already been curtailed.

why are they so afraid of!! one more thing that has to be remembered here is that Rajiv and Indra were killed for taking wrong strong decisions.It will always be remembered by Indian people.And moreover the UPA is doing the same grave mistake in 'Tytler' and 'Rajapakse' cases.
