General polls promote flower business in Lucknow

Lucknow, Apr 7 (ANI): Florists in Lucknow are flooded with orders for flowers from various political parties on the eve of elections.

The shopkeepers and wholesalers are a happy lot as they are receiving orders for bouquets, garlands and loose flowers in big quantities.

"Earlier, the sale was not that much. But ever since the election dates have been announced, our sales have increased," said Mehmood Khan, a florist.

The flower sellers say that they are making profits despite the fact there are no wedding slated this month thanks to the poll campaigns.

"We supply flowers to shopkeepers in Jabalpur, Benares and various other places. The shopkeepers in Lucknow directly come here and buy flowers from us," said Yaseen Khan, a wholesaler.

Besides meeting the demand in the state, the city is also supplying flowers to cities outside the state like Jaipur, Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata and Ahmedabad. By Kamna Mathur (ANI)
