Birth of baby hippo cheers Patna zoo authorities

Patna, Apr 7 (ANI): A hippopotamus at Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park here has given birth to a female calf, raising total count of Hippopotamus in the zoo.

The news has spread a wave of happiness among the zoo employees. It will attract lot of visitors, especially women and children to the zoo.

"With this, total count of hippopotamus in the zoo raises to 12. Out of which, 7 are female and 5 male. The birth of the calf has brought immense happiness to the zoo authorities and we are very proud of it", said Subhash Verma, director, Patna zoo.

According to zoo officials, both mother and child are in a healthy condition.

This is the sixth baby of the mother hippopotamus called 'Hartali'. She has given birth to maximum baby hippos in the zoo. Hartali was herself born at the zoo premises in 1988.

The baby calf is not named yet. But, zoo officials say they will soon decide the name. (ANI)

Drinking heavily early in a pregnancy ups premature birth risk

London, Jan 21 (ANI): Women who drink heavily early in a pregnancy - possibly before they know they are expecting - may be increasing the risk of premature delivery, according to a new study.For the study, researchers recruited 4,719 Australian women and found almost an 80 percent higher risk for those who drank heavily in the first third of pregnancy, then stopped.The researchers found no evidence of problems for women who drank low levels throughout pregnancy.In.....
