Twin blasts rock Assam in 2 hours

Guwahati, Apr 6: Within two hours of blast in Maligaon region of Guwahati, another powerful blast ripped the city of Tezpur in Assam on Monday, Apr 6. The second blast took place in Dhekaijuli in Sonitpur district in Tezpur. An important division of the Indian Army is based in this area.

Police has cordoned off the area of blast. Tension prevailed in the area with the people protesting over repeated blasts in the city. Media reports suggest that atleast 3 people are injured. The violent mob even attacked the policemen and their vehicles. In both blasts the bomb was planted in a motor bike.

Another blast in Guwahati, 5 killed

Ahead of Indian Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh's visit a bomb blast rocked Guwahati of Assam on Monday, Apr 6. At least 5 people were killed and 14 injured in a powerful IED blast which occurred at around 1.30 pm in the busy market area of Maligaon in Jalukbhari.

The Assam Health Minister confirmed the blast to teleivision channels and said the injured people are shifted to Guwahati Medical College. He claimed that ULFA is getting foreign aid to create chaos in the state.Several cars were reportedly gutted in the fire at the blast site. The prime suspect behind the blast is United Liberated Front of Assam (ULFA) as the blast took place ahead of the terrorist outfit's 'Flag raising day'.

This is the second blast in a gap of five days in Guwahati. Manmohan Singh is scheduled to visit Dibrugrah on Tuesday, Apr 6 for election campaign.

Assam Company commences oil delivery from Amguri field

New Delhi, Feb 22 (UNI) Assam Company Ltd (ACL) has begun delivery of oil from its operated field in Amguri to Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) refinery in Guwahati, Assam, about 115 km away. The oil is being sold at the same price as a basket of crude oils with similar characteristics traded in the international market, a company release here said. The oil produced from Amguri is first trucked to Oil India Ltd (OIL) facility at Moran.....
