Colombo, Apr 5: Sri Lankan army on Sunday, Apr 5 said that the last bastion of the LTTEPuthukudiyirippu, is captured and over 420 militants were killed in the fierce battle.

The army claimed that the Tamil tigers are now been confined to a no-fire zone. However the Lankan army so far could not capture LTTE chief V Prabhakaran and his son, who are believed to be hiding amongst civilians in a no-fire zone. Several senior LTTE leaders have been killed in this last offensive by the Sri Lankan army.

Army also seized a 30 mm anti-aircraft machine gun, three 12.7 mm anti-aircraft machine guns, seven multi purpose machine guns, 43 T-56 assault rifles, two 40 mm grenade launchers, four 5.56 mm weapons and three rocket propelled grenade (RPG) launchers.

Fierce fighting is on in the last remaining areas controlled by Tamil Tigers.

Colombo, Mar 9:  Sri Lankan troops captured four Tamil Tiger bases and inflicted heavy casualties in the restive northeast before dawn today, the military said, pushing on with an offensive the rebels warn could end in a bloodbath.Ground troops backed by artillery and multi-barrel rocket launchers advanced overnight on rebel-held territory in the district of Trincomalee, and around 150 Tiger fighters withdrew, military spokesman Brigadier Prasad Samarasinghe said.''We have cleared three major bases and (a satellite base).The Tigers fled the area.....

Colombo: US, Italy Ambassadors injured

Colombo, Feb 27:  At least six people, including the US and Italian Ambassadors to Sri Lanka, have been wounded in suspected LTTE shelling in the Eastern Batticaloa district today, military and diplomatic sources here said. According to the sources, the military helicopter carrying Sri Lankan Minister for Disaster Management and Human Rights Mahinda Samarasinghe, US Ambassador to Sri Lanka Robert O Blake and Italian Ambassador Pio Mariani, was landing when the shells suspectedly fired by the LTTE hit the landing pad.....
