Supreme Court questions NSA on Varun

Varun Gandhi Being Arrested
New Delhi, Apr 2: The Supreme Court of India on Thursday, Apr 2 challenged the Uttar Pradesh government and the District Magistrate of Pilibhit's decision of slapping the National Security Act against Bharatiya Janata Party leader Varun Gandhi. The bench headed by Chief Justice of India (CJI) K G Balakrishnan deferred the case for hearing on Apr 13. UP government slapped NSA on Varun allegedly for the 'hate speech' he made during his Pilibhit election campaign. Varun's lawyer said that his party is illegally detained, as the proceeding to be followed for arresting under NSA was not followed.

Criminal Case against Varun Gandhi: EC

New Delhi, Mar 17: Election Commission of India has decided to file a criminal case against Varun Gandhi for his communal speeches against Muslim community during his election campaign in Pilibhit. ECI will file a case for non-bailable offence against Varun under the India Penal Code.
