MK recalled the past efforts to merge both parties at the Kalaignar awards and Murasoli Maran award function here. DK leader later conveyed MGR's intention to Karunanidhi. MK told to Veeramani if MGR really wanted the merger, then he would drop a hint at the Assembly session to be convened two days later. Karunanidhi who after Veeramani said former Orissa CM, Biju Patnaik had acted as a mediater between him and MGR. The AIADMK leader agreed for merger but with certain conditions. But within a few hours he changed his stand and rubbished the merger talks as rumours.
