3G: Samsung partners BSNL, MTNL

New Delhi, Apr 1: Samsung, the leading electronic major partnered state-run telecos BSNL and MTNL to provide high-end handsets for their 3G services. With this the company is expecting up to 45 pc increase in total sales of multimedia and touchscreen phones.

Samsung India Electronics President and CEO, Jung Soo Shin said, "We have partnered BSNL and MTNL to promote 3G services in India. We are currently giving a special bundling offer for BSNL consumers on our select handsets for 3G services." He added that Samsung also provided handsets to MTNL to offer 3G services in Delhi.

On Wednesday, Apr 1, Samsung launched an 8 mega-pixel touchscreen, 3G enabled phone 'Ultra' priced at Rs 27,500 in India. The handset is capable of offering speedy internet access, video telephony, streaming and multimedia services.

Samsung to launch manf facility in TN

Chennai, Nov 13: Electronics major Samsung India Electronics today announced launch of its second manufacturing facility in India with an initial investment of US Dollar 30 million. Talking to reporters ahead of the launch of the facility at Sriperumbudur SEZ by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, Deputy Managing Director R Zutshi said the state-of-the-art plant, which would become a global manufacturing hub for Samsung operations, would have a production capacity of 1.5 million units per annum of Flat TVs and.....

Google to unveil mobile strategy, alliance

New York, Nov 3: Google Inc will unveil its mobile strategy on Monday, including a phone operating system and a broad alliance with multiple wireless service providers and handset vendors, people familiar with the matter said on Friday. Sources said the Google mobile operating system would be based on open-source Linux code, which will support applications from different software developers in addition to Google's own services, which include e-mail and mapping.
