No candidate against Sanjay Dutt: Congress

New Delhi, Mar 29: Congress party decided not to field a candidate against bollywood actor and Samajwadi Party candidate, Sanjay Dutt if he is contesting from Lucknow. Digvijay Singh, Congress general secretary in-charge of Uttar Pradesh said, "If Sanjay Dutt contests from Lucknow, we will not put up a candidate against him."

Sanjay, son of late Congress leader and legendary actor Sunil Dutt has been convicted of possessing arms illegally ahead of the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts and has been sentenced to 6 years in jail. Sanjay has moved to Supreme Court of India seeking suspension of his trial to contest in the General Elections in Apr - May.

Mumbai, Dec 18: A day before expiry of the deadline set by TADA court for film star Sanjay Dutt to surrender following his conviction in the 1993 serial bomb blasts case, the actor today moved the court for extending it till an unspecified period.
