Varanasi, Mar 28: A group of people opened fire in a clash involving group rivalry for a railway contract at the Cantonment Railway Station on Saturday, Mar 28 injuring four. "One of the accused persons was apprehended on the spot and a search is on for his accomplices," police said.

The injured are rushed to the nearby hospital and the condition is reported to be normal. "The assailants tried to escape from the spot but an GRP personnel and people caught one of them. A case would be registered and further probe conducted, the official said.

Varanasi, July 27: At least one person was killed and four others were injured when an over 100-year old four-storeyed residential building collapsed here due to incessant rains this morning. Police sources said one of the injured was said to be in a critical condition. The building, in a dilapidated condition, was situated near the Pande Ghat in the temple town.
