Inflation falls to historic low of 0.27 pc

India Inflation
New Delhi, Mar 26: Indian inflation rates dropped to a historic low of 0.27 per cent for the week ended Mar 14 from 0.44 per cent in the previous week. The fall in fuel prices and commodity prices such as sugar and iron led to the low inflation rate. The index for primary food articles rose by 0.1 per cent as fruit and vegetables, rice, some varieties of pulses, barley, bajra, and maize turned expensive. This is the lowest inflation rate in 30 years and comes seven months after inflation crossed a lifetime high of 12 per cent in July, 2008. Reserve Bank of India (RBI) may take some monetary steps in the wake of new inflation rates to boost economy.
