Last year, 78.57 million tonnes of wheat was produced, which was the highest ever in the history of India.
Talking to AIR, Secretary, Department of Agriculture and Cooperation, T.Nand Kumar said, pulses particularly the gram production will also increase this year by at least a million tonnes than the last fiscal. Last year, 14.76 million tonnes of pulses produced.
Kumar said production of oilseeds particularly mustard is also going to witness a jump from the last year's output of 29.75 million tonnes.
He said, due to climatic variations in January, some concerns were raised about the Rabi crop outputs, but the state governments and farmers have taken the pro-active measures to rectify the same. (ANI)
