IPL likely in South Africa

New Delhi, Mar 24: The uncertainty over overseas venue for IPL Season 2 still prevails, Cricket South Africa (CSA) and the govt have showed quick reactions and taken steps to host the host the Twenty20 championship.

According to IPL sources CSA showed more interest in hosting the event. Even IPL Chairman Lalit Modi flew to South Africa on Monday, Mar 22 night to assess venues and the logistics, cancelling his planned trip to London.

The possibility of a rainy spring has become a major obstacle in hosting the event in England. Modi admitted that the big worry in England was the threat of rain disrupting matches.CSA has got in touch with the South African govt and intimated them of the urgent requirements to host the event. They are very keen on hosting IPL, the source added.

CSA has already told various provincial unions around South Africa to keep their venues in prime condition to host one of the eight teams.

May calls for inclusion of IPL in international calendar

''Cricket needs to go down a path to . . . create a window for the IPL. That will act as a reasonable safeguard from early retirements, but it won't stop all,'' May said. ''It's common sense, otherwise international.....
