IPL moves out of India, England or SA likely hosts

IPL moves out of India
New Delhi, Mar 22: The Indian Premier League (IPL) will be headed for South Africa or England, according to reports from the emergency meeting of the BCCI working committee.

The decision was taken on Sunday, Mar 22 as the IPL did not get definite response from the govt on whether the tournament can be held from next month or not.

BCCI also said that they tried out their best to ensure that IPL is held in India. BCCI blames the State governments for shifting IPL out of India.

The BCCI said that the venues of the tournament would be announced in two or three days. The dates and the duration of the IPL schedule remain the same, 4 pm IST and 8 pm IST.Though both IPL and Cricket South Africa (CSA) officially denied the move, sources said IPL chief Lalit Modi had had informal talks with CSA chief Gerald Majola.

Reports from South Africa said cricketers" association Chief Tony Irish confirmed the talks. Some IPL officials also feel there is no point in antagonising the govt beyond a point.
