Varun gets bail; replies to EC

New Delhi, Mar 20: Embattled BJP leader Varun Gandhi's lawyers on Friday, Mar 20 filed their reply to the Election Commission (EC), who had asked the leader to explain his stand on the tapes aired by media channels.

Earlier on Friday, Mar 20 Officials from Uttar Pradesh visited the residence of Varun and handed over that EC notice and a copy of the CD containing his hate speech in Pilibhit.

However Delhi High Court granted anticipatory bail to Varun Gandhi for his communal remarks against Muslim community in his speech in an election rally, following which, the EC stepped in and asked for an explanation.On Thursday, Mar 19 after being slapped with two more cases by the Pilibhit Police, Varun got into another controversy of allegedly distributing Rs 10,000 to the kin of a vendor killed a few days back and Rs 5,000 help was extended to few others in Bisalpur district.

Meanwhile, in a new twist to the Varun's hate speech case, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has decided to completely disown the statements of the young leader.

Criminal Case against Varun Gandhi: EC

New Delhi, Mar 17: Election Commission of India has decided to file a criminal case against Varun Gandhi for his communal speeches against Muslim community during his election campaign in Pilibhit. ECI will file a case for non-bailable offence against Varun under the India Penal Code. EC which reviewed the CD that shows Varun making 'hate speech' against Muslims has decided to serve notice to both Varun Gandhi and his party Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Varun, BJP candidate.....
