'Microsoft still keen on Yahoo buyout'

New York, Mar 20: Steve Ballmer, the Chief Executive of Microsoft said the internet giant is still interested in buying part of Yahoo Inc. He said that the deal would help improve Microsoft's web search business. Ballmer added that more people using search engine means more advertisers.

Steve Ballmer while congratulating Carol Bartz the new Yahoo! CEO said he would like to hold talks with her regarding a possible deal. Microsoft which has several times tried to strike a deal with Yahoo is in the process of developing its own search technology and one of such concept is known as 'Kumo' internally.

New Delhi, Feb 15: Microsoft India announced the winners of the Innovative Teachers Leadership award (ITLA) for the year 2006. Instituted in 2004 under its India education program Project Shiksha, these awards seek to honor those teachers who are innovatively using IT in redefining classroom teaching and learning practices. Microsoft has till date trained over 110,000 teachers and reached out to over 5.5 million students under Project Shiksha. Microsoft announces Rs 6 cr grants for 4 NGOs

Bangalore, Feb 8: Under its Unlimited Potential Program (Project Jyoti in India) Microsoft India today announced an additional funding of Rs 6 crores to four of its partner NGOs.The Unlimited Potential, launched in India in 2004, is aimed at enabling IT access to underserved communities in rural and semi-urban India.
