New Delhi, Mar 15: On Sunday, Mar 15 the Election Commission of India will hold a meeting of poll observers in New Delhi. During the two-day meeting, Chief Election Commissioner N Gopalawami and two Election Commissioners Navin Chawla and S Y Quraishi will brief around 1500 observers on the conduct of elections.
The election process will be set in motion on Mar 23 and notifications for the first phase of polling will be issued on Apr 16.
Nearly 714 million voters are eligible to exercise their franchise for 543 member Lok Sabha. The three-member poll panel had already reviewed poll preparations in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.
