Varanasi, Mar 12: Two persons killed and 14 others, including six policemen are injured when police opened fire to disperse members during Holi celebrations on Wednesday, Mar 11.

The clash broke out between members of communities in Varanasi while they were celebrating Holi, festival of colours.

Police opened fire to overcome violence at broke out during Holi celebrations near Gausiya Masjid in Bajardiha locality under the Bhelupur police station in Varanasi, said Varanasi SP PC Meena.

The two killed as been identified as Shafikur and Md Moin of Bajardiha area . Their bodies have been sent for postmortem.

Meena said, "Trouble started after some Muslim youth saw a splash of colour on the wall of the Gausia mosque and they pelted stones on a nearby Hindu locality. Police immediately swung into action and surrounded the area and fired teargas to control the situation."

Jaipur, Mar 25: The Chittorgarh district administration in Rajasthan announced a two-hour curfew relaxation in the troubled areas of the fort city this morning to enable people to buy essential commodities. The curfew relaxation between 0800 and 1000 hrs passed off peacefully with no untoward incident being reported. People, who were home-bound since the imposition of the curfew on Saturday afternoon, thonged the markets to buy essential commodities like milk, vegetables. Chittorgarh peaceful but curfew continues

Jaipur, Mar 24: The indefinite curfew in Chittorgarh town of Rajasthan continued today without relaxation even as the situation is now stated to be peaceful. The curfew was clamped in the town following communal tension during Holi celebrations on Saturday. A Police spokesman told UNI that the situation in the affected areas of the town was now peaceful as no untoward incident was reported from anywhere since Saturday night. Seven injured in clashes on Holi

Phagwara, Mar 23: Four persons sustained injuries in a clash on the occasion of Holi yesterday in the Harkrishan Nagar locality of the town, police today said. According to police reports the four persons were injured when they were attacked with sharp-edged weapons while celebrating Holi. The injured identified as Paramjit Singh, Satnam Singh, Manoj and Maneesh were admitted in the local civil hospital. The police has registered a case. UNI.....
