Bill Gates tops Forbes richest list

New York, Mar 12: Microsoft Corp founder, Bill Gates overtook investor Warren Buffett and topped the Forbes Magazine list of richest men. The global meltdown has slashed off $2 trillion from the net worth of the world"s billionaires, Forbes Magazine said on Wednesday, Mar 11.

The number of billionaires fell to 793, almost one third, in the past year and most of the dropped millionaires are from Russia, India and Turkey.Bill Gates had taken the third place last year with $58 billion but this year with $40 billion he has overtaken Warren Buffet (second place) with $37 billion and Mexican telecommunications tycoon Carlos Slim (third place) with $35 billion.

The three top billionaires have lost $68 billion in the year to 13 Feb.
