Symonds loses his locks for leukemia

Andrew Symonds
Melbourne, Mar 11: Australian cricketer Andrew Symonds has shred his dreadlocks to raise 10,000 dollars for the Leukaemia Foundation of Australia.

"He's looking fresh; I think he looks more responsible. Certainly, he's more streamlined," Fearon added.

Symonds raised 2500 dollars off his own bat and hair salon maven Stefan Ackerie stepped in with a 7500 dollar cheque to help the cricketer achieve his goal of 10,000 dollars.

Symonds is hoping his newly shaved dome heralds a reversal of fortune that will put him back in the baggy green in time for this year's Ashes tour of England.

The cricketer, whose locks were the most recognisable in the modern game, underwent the chop live on morning TV on Tuesday, Mar 10.
