Recession: Sony Pictures to layoff 350 jobs

Bangalore, Mar 11: Hit by global recession Sony Pictures Entertainment Inc, the movie studio subsidiary of the Japanese electronics maker is planning to layoff 350 jobs.

About 250 people will be laid off and nearly 100 positions will be eliminated as a part of its cost cutting measure. On Tuesday, Mar 10 Michael Lynton, the Chief Executive and Studio CO-chair Amy Pascal announced 3.5 pc job cuts worldwide. 150 people will be laid off in United States alone specially in Los Angeles. The company also has plans not to fill 100 positions.

Tokyo, May 16: The Nikkei average fell 0.23 percent on Wednesday as investors turned cautious before a series of earnings results including Sony Corp. later in the day and economic growth data for Japan due on Thursday. New Delhi, Nov 25: Sony India expects to capture 30 per cent market share by next year with its new LCD range, Bravia. ''We aim to capture 25 per cent market share in terms of units and 30 per cent in terms of revenue of the LCD segment. The current market is of about 4,00,000 units,'' Sony India Managing Director Masaru Tamagawa told the sources. The company would target the 32 inch and above in LCD screens as the market is niche.....
