Jayalalithaa
Chennai, Mar 11: An alliance between the Bharathiya Janata Party (BJP) and the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) is more likely for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections in Tamil Nadu. The back channel talks between the two parties is on, said BJP sources on Tuesday, Mar 10.

To speak about the tie up between the two parties, BJP called in AIADMK Chief J Jayalalithaa on Monday, Mar 9, sources added.

Two parties said they need to counter multiple sub-regional parties with the tie-up.

Earlier former PM H D Deve Gowda said that he was hopeful that the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhgam (AIADMK) will be part of the third front and will take part in the consultative meeting to be held in Tumkur in Karnataka on March 12.

However, Jayalalithaa may not attend a rally of the proposed Third Front in Tumkur, Karnataka on Thursday, Mar 12.

Party sources said she would be deputing AIADMK parliamentary party leader V Maitheriyan to attend the rally on her behalf. The sources did not cite any reason for her staying away from the event to be attended by top leaders of Left parties and JD (S) among others.
