Lahore, Mar 6 (ANI): The Lahore High Court on Friday admitted petitions challenging governor's rule in the Punjab for hearing.
Justice Asif Saeed Khosa said the court has also issued notices to the Attorney General of Pakistan and Advocate General of Punjab for subsequent proceedings.
According to The dawn, these petitions were filed in LHC by A. K. Dogar and Tariq Aziz Advocate. The petitions challenge the legitimacy of governor rule in the province.
Justice Khosa has forwarded the petitions to the Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court with the request that a large bench should be constituted in order to hear the petitions.
After Shahbaz Sharif's disqualification, President Zardari enforced governor rule in Punjab. Salman Taseer is the provincial chief executive of the state.
The petitioners have said that the conditions in the province were not such as would justify the enforcement of governor rule.
They also pointed out that governor rule is imposed at a time when the constitutional machinery fails.
The petitioners said that the constitution protects the fundamental rights of the citizens, whereas, governor rule denies these fundamental rights.
They also said that governor rule in the province should be declared null and void. (ANI)
