IAF says goodbye to MiG-23 fighter jets

New Delhi, Mar 6: On Friday, Mar 6 Indian Air Force retired MiG-23 fighter plane after 28 years of glorious service to the country. A spectacular farewell in the form of a 'phasing out ceremony' was held at its last home, No. 221 Squadron at Air Force Station Halwara.India bought MiG-23 BN aircraft from former Soviet Union to counter Pakistan's F-16 jets. It was stationed at Air Force Station Halware since then to No.221 Squadron which was later converted to MiG-23 BN in Feb 1982. The MiG-23s which have a poor safety record have had flown more than 154000 hrs in the service of the nation.

First 6 Indian Hawks report for duty

New Delhi, July 13: As the Indian Air Force (IAF) prepares to make its debut appearance at the Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT) later this week, the first six Hawk Advanced Jet Trainers destined for it have achieved Interim Acceptance -- marking a significant milestone in the Indian Hawk programme. According to reports received here today from Warton, UK, where the BAE Systems Technical Training Academy is located, the IAF has accorded Interim Acceptance.....
