Young fashion designers showcase their talent in Kolkata

Kolkata, Mar 3 (ANI): More than 15 young and talented fashion designers showcased their creativity at an event held here.

The designers, all of whom aspiring fashion designing students from various premiere fashion institutes of the country, showcased their collections for Wills Lifestyle's event 'The Debut'.

'The Debut' is aimed at encouraging and providing a platform for young budding designers to showcase their talent.

Comprising of a three-round rigorous process, the event assesses the collections designed by the contestants on the basis of Design, Technical and Commercial Competencies.

Unleashing their creativity, the designers came up with some unusual and eye-catching designs, which made heads turn at the event.

Drawing inspirations from a variety of subjects, the designers came up with eclectic collections.

"The name of the collection is 'Knot Orgy'. It is inspired by knots. I have created high street wear for the young generation by draping knots on a body form," said Snigdha Khejriwal, a fashion designer.

Judging the participants were eminent fashion designers like Anamika Khanna, Kiran Uttam Ghosh among others.

Stressing the need of a clear message in the collections, fashion designer Anamika Khanna said, "Look for something which is very clear. I look for a clear message, what the student is trying to say."

The finalists will compete at the Debut Finale to be held in New Delhi.

The winner of the event will visit international fashion fair 'Pret-a-Porter' at Paris and will also be awarded at the country's most coveted fashion event, Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week. (ANI)
