Zardari seeks remedy to undo disqualification of Sharif brothers

Islamabad, Mar 2 (ANI): President Asif Ali Zardari is considering various options to seek a remedy to the Sharif brothers' disqualification issue, even through an act of Parliament.

Zardai held consultations with inner circles of the PPP to find out ways to resolve the stand; The Nation quoted sources, as saying.

Sources privy to these developments said Zardari is inclined to engage coalition partners, particularly the ANP and JUI (F) to mediate between the PPP and the PML-N.

It is learnt that coalition leaders including Asfandyar Wali Khan and Maulana Fazlur Rehman are expected to meet Zardari today to resolve the crisis.

Both leaders met here on Sunday to discuss the political situation and a strategy to resolve it.

Meanwhile, Presidential spokesman Farhatullah Babar has dismissed media reports that Wali and Rehman had met Zardari on Sunday.

"There is no contact between the PPP and the PML-N since the SC judgment and subsequent Governor Rule in Punjab", Farhatullah Babar told The Nation.

He, however, made it clear that the PPP is open to reconciliation talks in the interest of maintaining peace and stability in the country. (ANI)

Anti-terror fight won't be affected by Mumbai attacks: Zardari
