New Delhi, Mar 2 (ANI): Over 14.5 lakh students are appearing in their class 10th and 12th Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) board examinations today.

The class 10th examinations will be held at 2,714 centres and class 12th at 2,506 centres across the country.

About 8,24,438 students including 4,87,475 boys and 3,36,963 girls would take the class 10th examinations, while 6,37,578 including 3,73,330 boys and 2,64,248 girls would appear for class 12th exams.

According to a statement from the CBSE, 13,15,031 students took the examinations last year.

The CBSE board has made special provisions for visually impaired students, who can write their examinations at 14 centres, specially allotted for them.

The visually impaired students will be allowed to use an amanuensis, chosen by the Centre Superintendent of the examination. The amanuensis should be a student of a class lower than the one for which the candidate is taking the examination.

As per the new set of rules, the special category students would be given an hour of extra time for a paper which is originally of three hours duration, 50 minutes for a paper of 2.5 hours duration, 40 minutes for papers of two hours duration and 30 minutes of extra time for papers of 1.5 hours duration.

The board have also facilitated an alternate question papers for such candidates, which has visual inputs in the English communicative and social science papers for class 10th and History, geography, economics and political science for class 12th.

Also, there will be separate question papers in enlarged prints for mathematics and science in class 10th, the statement said.

Blind students in Delhi would also be provided the facility of computer or typewriter for giving examinations.

Further, CBSE has made a special three-tier system for surprise checks during the examinations, which include, flying squads. (ANI)
