Sri Lanka cricket team security beefed-up amidst fear of political turmoil

Lahore, Feb.27 (ANI): Fearing large scale protests by the Pakistan Muslim League -Nawaz (PML-N) activists against Supreme Court's verdict to disqualify the Sharif brothers', the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has stepped-up security arrangements for the touring Sri Lankan cricket team.

The Nation reports that the security of Sri Lanka team has been intensified after the Lankan management expressed its concern over the political crisis.

A PCB official confirmed that the second Test match in Lahore would start as per schedule on March 1, and a foolproof security arrangement was in place for the event.

"At the moment the programme is on track. The crews of the official broadcasters for the series have already started transporting their gear and equipment from Karachi to Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium," another PCB official added. (ANI)
