Sharad Sharma, Yahoo! India R&D head quits

Bangalore, Feb 27: Yahoo! India Research and Development (R&D) unit Chief Executive Officer Sharad Sharma resigned from the post on Friday, Feb 27. "Sharad Sharma, Yahoo! India R&D has decided to leave Yahoo! to pursue other opportunities," a Yahoo! India spokesperson said to the media.

Shoubick Mukherjee has been named as the new R&D chief and will lead the R&D centre's strategic contribution to the unit that delivers global products and consumer experiences.

SHANGHAI, Dec 21: Yahoo China has won a lawsuit it brought against a local search engine operator over unfair competition, Yahoo China's owner, Alibaba.com, said today.Beijing's Second Intermediate Court ruled that Beijing Sanjiwuxian Internet Technology, operator of the Qihoo search engine, must stop competing unfairly and compensate Yahoo! China for damages and legal costs, Alibaba said in a statement.Beijing Sanjiwuxian was also required to make a public announcement clarifying ''incorrect allegations'', the statement said, without specifying the size.....

Yahoo India to invest in Tyroo media

Bangalore, July 18: Yahoo! Inc., a leading global Internet company today announced a significant investment of over 35 per cent in Tyroo Media Pvt. Ltd, a Gurgaon based company offering advertising solutions. Tyroo, was part of Smile Interactive Technologies Group (Smile Group) and had over 1200 registered publishers cross the country. Yahoo India Managing Director George Zacharias in a release said that the move would enable the company gear up towards gaining significant market.....

Wikia details plans for search rival to Google

San Francisco, July 28: Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales said he is putting the building blocks in place for a community-developed Web search service that would rival search engines such as Google or Yahoo.
