Karachi, Feb.27 (ANI): The first Test match between Pakistan and Sri Lanka may have ended in a tame draw after batsmen of both teams plundered over1500 runs, but the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has ruled out launching a enquiry into why a flat pitch was prepared.

PCB chief Ijaz Butt said he had consulted chief pitch curator Agha Zahid, but denied ordering an enquiry into the issue.

"Soon after returning to Lahore, I had a heart-to-heart with him. He has given me a detailed explanation and has assured that there will be a better wicket for the next match," The News quoted Butt, as saying.

Referring to Younis Khan's triple century in the match, Butt said there were some positive results in the match, and the team will offer a better show in the next game after gaining confidence from the splendid batting performance by the middle order.

"In the end it wasn't a bad match for us. I mean Younis played really well and now I'm looking forward to an even better showing from the team in the next Test," he said.

Earlier, coach Intikhab Alam and captain Younis Khan had shown discontent over the lifeless National stadium pitch where the islanders declared their first innings on 646 for 7 with two double tons from captain Mahela Jayawardene and Thilan Samaraveera respectively.

Pakistan replied by piling-up a mammoth 765 for 6 with Younis Khan inking his name to record books with a triple century and wicket keeper Kamran Akmal also hitting a century."Test cricket gets really boring if we play on such pitches," Khan had said.

Sri Lankan captain Mahela Jayawardene also blasted the bowlers' nightmare track saying: "If you have too many pitches like this in international cricket, there won't be any bowlers, they will be like endangered species." (ANI)
