Kashmir valley, a 'mouse' away

Srinagar, Feb 27 (ANI): Web designing is re-scripting the tourism-driven economy of Kashmir valley.

The web designing which was inaccessible to the valley until recently, has unlocked new vistas. People in the valley have suddenly rushed to opening web sites.

"Earlier, people had no idea about what a website was. But when it was advertised, people started taking interest in it. Now, everyone wants to have a website of their own," said Altaf Ahmad, a resident.

Earlier, Kashmir valley had large number of unemployed educated youths armed with degrees and diplomas in web designing. But the private companies have now started recruiting web designers.

Web designing is proving a boob especially for the tourism trade in the valley. People related with tourism including hotel, houseboat owners and travel agents, have all opened their web sites.

"Here, a trader is coming forward to get his website done. A routine hotel owner is also coming forward to get a website done. In fact, the taxi stand operators related to the tourism trade, we have received their enquiries also to get their websites done for them. Whatever websites we have made related to the tourism industry, they have received an excellent response from it," said Rafiq Ahmad, owner of an advertising and website services.
