Kapil Dev unveils INWAS games mascot

Bangalore, Feb 27: Kapil Dev, former Indian cricket skipper unveiled the mascot of International Wheelchair and Amputee Sports World Games (INWAS) in Bangalore on Friday, Feb 27.

A leopard cub standing on its two feet is the mascot for INWAS-2009, which is scheduled to be held in Bangalore from Nov 24 to Dec 1. He is the brand ambassador of the games. Kapil said one should learn lessons from each other specially the physically disabled persons in particular.

"Everybody has to learn from each other. But I think from them, we can learn much more than what we can feel and think," he said.

Among others present on the occasion was Minister of State for Defence Production, Rao Inderjit Singh who expressed his gratitude to have Kapil Dev for being associated with the INWAS.

"We are lucky to have Kapil Dev as our brand ambassador," said Rao Indrajeet Singh. Colourful cultural dances were presented by young artistes on the occasion.

Another highlight of the event was a fashion show by the physically challenged sportspersons in which Kapil Dev also joined them to a loud and cheering applause from the audience.

ICL players will play for India, assures Kapil

New Delhi, April 2: Virtually throwing a challenge to the BCCI, former captain Kapil Dev said the players who are performing well cannot be denied an opportunity to represent India in future. ''Time will come and you will see them (ICL players) playing for India,'' Kapil told UNI.''Some of the youngsters have performed very well in this tournament and how can you deny some one an opportunity if he has the talent,'' he said.
