34,684 applications flood Oz for 'dream job'

Hamilton Island
Sydney, Feb 24: A total of 34,684 applications have flooded for the 'dream job' of caretaker on a paradise island in Australia's Great Barrier Reef. The last minute applications for the post that pays a lot for very little work could not be accepted due to the website crash.

"We'd been advising people for a couple of weeks not to leave their submission until the last minute," Queensland State Tourism Minister Desley Boyle said on Monday, Feb 23. "This massive amount of traffic slowed the site down and, regretfully, some people weren't able to get their video application in by the deadline," he said.

One third of the job applicants are from US, followed by Canada and Britain.

The panel will select 50 applications and announce their names on March 3. The finalist will be selected from 11 finalists and finally he will start work from July 1.
