Work pressure fuelling binge-drinking epidemic

London, Feb 20 (ANI): Boom in binge- drinking is being fuelled by an unexpected source - the pressure to be "perfect" at work.

That's the conclusion of a leading psychologist, who carried out a study of drinkers and found they struggled with the stress of having to control their emotions in the workplace.

Instead, they let off steam at weekends, reports the Scotsman.

Professor Anna van Wersch, who is from the Netherlands, said: "People in England are more high achievers than the Dutch.

"The quality of their work has to be perfect and their performance is much higher.

"There's a lot of pressure to do well, and to behave appropriately and control one's emotions, and that can be stressful.

"That's why I think the British put so much emphasis on having something to look forward to at the weekend: a chance to let off steam and let their hair down." (ANI)

Threat of punishment really does work

Washington, Dec 6 (ANI): A new study has found that a mere threat of punishment can banish freeloaders and encourage them to cooperate with others, thus transforming them into responsible members of society.Freeloader is a person who refuses to do work without valid excuses/reasons for being non-contributing to the work being done.Previous studies have claimed that while punishing freeloaders can increase their cooperation with others, the punishment itself was too costly and in the end, punishment wouldn't be worth.....
