Congress gets major make over ahead of LS polls

New Delhi, Feb 20: The Congress party on Thursday, Feb 19 reshuffled its party, days ahead of Lok Sabha polls. Senior leader and former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad has been made the party General Secretary and he is in charge of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Orissa and Puducherry as the party reshuffled Congress Working Committee (CWC).

Karnataka leader, Mallikarjun Kharge has taken the place of General Secretary of CWC replacing V Kishore Chandra Deo. The work allocation of nine general secretaries has been changed.

Digvijay Singh will take charge of Uttar Pradesh and look after publicity. Rahul Gandhi will continue with Youth Congress and National Students Union of India (NSUI).

Mohsina Kidwai will take care of Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh. Mukul Wasnik will be in-charge of the party affairs in Delhi, Rajasthan and would also look after Sewa Dal.

Prithviraj Chavan will be in-charge of AICC as general secretary of Jammu and Kashmir and he has been made the party in-charge of Haryana.

Janardan Dwivedi will continue to look after organisation and will also get new charges like organisational elections, training and programme implementation.

Congress treasurer Motilal Vora gets another responsibility as party in-charge of administration.

Prachanda says Nepali Congress reluctant to promote politics of consensus
