BSE Sensex ends at 9k, IT gains

Mumbai, Feb 19: Indices ended a choppy session at a higher note led by gains in IT and auto space. The fund flow were muted at FIIs desk while domestic participation was very low. Bombay Stock Exchange's Sensex ended at 9043.56 up 28.38 points or 0.3 pc. It touched an intra-day low of 8977.66 and high of 9111.95.

National Stock Exchange"s Nifty closed at 2789.35, up 13.20 points or 0.3 per cent. The index touched an intra-day low of 2767.60 and high of 2802.15. BSE Midcap Index was down 0.19 per cent and BSE Smallcap Index edged 0.37 per cent lower.

The major gainers were Wipro, Grasim Industries, Infosys Technologies, Maruti Suzuki and Reliance Infrastructure. While Hindalco Industries, ACC, Infosys Technologies, Maruti Suzuki and Reliance Infrastructure.

Volatile trading seen in markets

Markets are trading volatile and benchmark indices have been directionless. The Sensex was trading at 9035, up 20 points and the Nifty was at 2,785, up 9 points, at 1:43 hours IST.

The European markets are trading marginally higher. Asian markets are showing mixed trend. Shanghai, Nikkei and Taiwan went up 0.3-0.8 per cent. However, Kospi, Straits Times and Jakarta fell 0.55-1 per cent. Hang Seng is flat.

Buying seen in markets amidst volatility

Some buying interest is seen in markets despite volatility. The Sensex was trading at 9,056, up 41 points and the Nifty was at 2,788, up 12.5 points, at 10:45 hours IST. BSE Midcap and Small cap indices gained half a per cent each.

The stocks which support markets include banking, capital goods, realty, metal, auto and oil & gas exploration stocks. However, HUL, Bharti, Nalco, Hero Honda, Cipla and Hindalco are under pressure. Infosys is volatile.

Markets open higher; Realty up

Mumbai, Feb 19: The markets opened up and the benchmark indices are trading marginally higher taking suppot from the capital goods, realty, metal stocks. The Sensex was trading at 9,075, up 60 points and the Nifty was at 2,790, up 15 points. CNX Midcap went up 0.77 per cent, to 3,310, at 9:57 am.

Suzlon Energy, Unitech, DLF, Zee Entertainment, Tata Steel, HDFC, Reliance Capital, L&T, Tata Communication, ICICI Bank, SAIL and SBI are gainers. However, Wipro, Grasim, Tata Power are the front runners who lost ground in the early trade. Mixed trend is seen in the Asian markets. While Nikkei and Taiwan went up, Hang Seng, Kospi and Jakarta fell.

Heavy buying: Markets closes on higher note

Mumbai, Dec 10: Sensex, the Bombay Stock Exchange's benchmark index rose 5.45 per cent or 499.22 points at 9,661.84 after touching a high of 9,678.70. The low was 9,280.16. While National Stock Exchange's Nifty climbed 5.14 per cent or 143.15 points to 2927.15. The broader market also participated in late trade. BSE Midcap Index closed 2.44 per cent and BSE Smallcap Index gained 1.76 per cent. Stocks across the board witnessed heavy buying activity on Wednesday, Dec 10. But the major performer.....
