46 activists of Hindu org arrested on V-Day

Bhopal, Feb 14: Atleast 46 activists of right-wing Hindu organisations have been arrested on Valentine's Day in Bhopal and Gwalior on Saturday, Feb 14. The activists were trying to create trouble in public places, police said.

"Thirty-five Shiv Sainiks were arrested after they stormed into a zoo, Gandhi Prani Udhinyan, in Inderganj police station area in Gwalior looking for lovelorn couples," Gwalior Superintendent of Police U K Suryavanshi told. "In Bhopal, police took into preventive custody seven Shiv Sainiks and four activists of Sanskriti Bachao Manch (SBM) who were hanging around Madhya Pradesh Higher Secondary Board office and Chinar Park allegedly to create trouble," Additional Superintendent of Police (City) A K Pandey said.

"We made these arrests to prevent trouble," he added. The arrests in Gwalior and Bhopal were made under Section 151 of CrPC, under which a person can be taken into custody to prevent commission of offence.

MP: Deputy Registrar of Coop jailed for bribe

Bhopal, May 22: A special court of Jabalpur has sentenced Deputy Registrar of Cooperatives Narayanlal Tandon to three years rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 for taking bribe. According to official sources, Tandon was caught red-handed by the Lokayukta officials on October 2, 2000 while taking a bribe of Rs 10,000 from complainant Vinod Kumar Duggal of Jabalpur. The Deputy Registrar had demanded bribe of total Rs 25,000 for the dissolution.....
