'Indian cities are emerging IT destinations'

Bangalore, Feb 11: KPMG, one of the major global consultancy firm includes three Indian cities to the list of top 31 locations across the world as key emerging alternatives to the existing places for IT and ITes industry.

KPMG in its report- 'Exploring Global Frontiers- the new Emerging Destinations' said, as the existing favourite locations for shared services and outsourcing have started to become saturated the newer cities are emerging, offering new and improved incentive packages and talent, that are better geared for the IT and ITeS industry.

Ahmedabad, Jaipur and Nagpur are the Indian cities which found place in the list dominated by cities in developing countries. Viral Thakker, the KPMG Sourcing Advisory services in India Partner-in-Charge (NCR) said, "Realising the growth potential of the IT-BPO industry, Tier II cities in India have now jumped on the sourcing bandwagon and can be projected as viable destinations."

KPMG reports also suggest that other than the cities like Bangalore, Mumbai, the National Capital Region (NCR), Chennai, Pune and Hyderabad, which are now in the 'emerged destinations' category, there are several smaller Tier II and III Indian cities which have the caliber to attract IT-BPO investments.
