New Delhi, Feb 8: While Pakistan is justifying the release of controversial nuclear scientist A Q Khan, India's Congress party on Saturday, Feb 7 urged the international community should think on declaring Pakistan a 'terrorist state.'
Party spokesperson Manish Tewari in a press conference in New Delhi said, "It is time for the international community to think whether to declare Pakistan a terrorist country". Tewari accused Pak government has defended Khan by adopting a lax attitude to the case.
A Q Khan was declared a free man by the Pakistan court and was released after five-year house arrest on Friday, Feb 6. "The way in which Pakistan government has helped Khan get released by adopting a lax attitude and defending him proves Pakistan as not only an exporter of terrorism but has also given rise to doubts of certain countries, including America, that nuclear weapons could go into the hands of terrorists." the spokesman said.
Tewari added that its time now that these nations seriously think over the issue.
India has said earlier that the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, in which atleast 200 people were killed was planned by the terrorist outfits in Pakistan. The terror attacks resulted in strain in Indo-Pak relations as India blamed Pakistan of not doing enough to stop terrorism breeding in there.
Shivshankar Menon, Indian Foreign Secretary had alleged the Pak spy agency, ISI is direclty linked to the planners of the Mumbai attacks. However Pakistan has denied any involvement and has said it was investigating a dossier of information from India, to which it will reply next week.
