Shelling on Sri Lankan hospital kill nine

Colombo, Feb.2 (ANI): At least nine people were feared dead and several others injured when mortar shells landed on the building of a hospital in the rebel-controlled town of Puthukkudiyiruppu in the Mullaitivu district of Sri Lanka

According to BBC, three shells hit a crowded paediatric unit of the local hospital killing nine people and injuring many others.

It could not be clear which group or person was involved in the shelling, as the Sri Lankan Army has denied any role in it. Neither there has been any comment so far from the rebel group, the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE). (ANI)

Sri Lanka kills 5 rebels, explosives found

Colombo, Sep 5: Sri Lanka's military said today five Tamil Tiger rebels were killed in artillery shelling and a gunbattle in the far north of the island, the latest in a renewed civil war.
